Is That a Psychic Message... or a Google Search?

Hey Viva Fam,
Remember a few years back, when YouTube tarot was everything? It was a go-to for some quick advice, a little insight, and maybe a heads-up about something coming our way. It felt so helpful, and it was a cool, new way to connect with our spiritual side.
But honestly? I think I'm over it. I've been watching for a while, and it feels like the whole scene has changed. What used to be a community has started to feel more like a business, and I've got some thoughts on why that is.
It's All About the Money, Honey
This is the big one for me. It used to feel like these readers were genuinely sharing their gifts, but now it seems like every other sentence is a pitch for a paid reading, a merch drop, or a donation. It makes you wonder, right? If you're really a messenger for a higher power, why do you have to ask your audience for money all the time? From my own experience, when I'm in tune with my gifts, things just work out. I'm always provided for, even when things are tough. This constant begging for money just feels off.
And it’s not just the direct asks. A lot of them do these group rituals, and while they say it's for everyone's benefit, I can't shake the feeling that they're really just using the audience's energy to boost themselves. It's like a spiritual power-up for the reader, not the viewer.
The Sneaky Time and Energy Drain
Have you ever spent hours watching a bunch of different readings, and then felt totally wiped out afterward? Me too. It's like you go in looking for clarity, but you end up feeling more drained and needing another reading just to feel okay again. It becomes this endless cycle that keeps you hooked on their content, and it's not a healthy way to live.
Is That a Psychic Message... or a Google Search?
This one is a little spooky, but hear me out. Have you ever gotten a reading that felt so freakishly accurate it made your hair stand up? Like, "The person I'm talking to could be an Aquarius" or "I'm getting a message about black cats." Those general guesses are a classic trick that's so vague it’s bound to resonate with a ton of people. It’s called the Barnum effect, and it’s a cheap way to seem legit.
And with so much of our lives online, I sometimes wonder if some of these readers are actually doing some quick online stalking. If you've got a public Instagram or your birth chart is available, it's not hard for someone to put a few pieces together and then present it as a psychic download. The real magic of tarot is in getting those specific, spot-on details without any prior knowledge.
The Intuition is Gone, Replaced by a Script
The other thing that bothers me is that a lot of them have lost the real art of tarot. It's not about just looking at a card and saying, "Okay, the Ace of Wands means new beginnings." It's about using the card to spark your intuition and then channeling a deeper message. So many of these readers just feel like they're reading a script, and it takes all the soul out of it. And you can tell when a reader is just trying to create enough content to fill two or three channels—the quality just isn't there anymore. It makes me wonder what kind of energy they're even tapping into.
So, What’s the Takeaway?
If you've been feeling this way, you're not alone. I think it's a sign that you're ready to trust your own gut more. It’s cool to use these videos for a little fun or a different perspective, but don't get caught in the trap of needing them for everything. Your own intuition is your most powerful tool. The fact that you're even questioning this whole thing is a sign that you're already on the right path.
